Dropkick Murphys to Rock Riviera Theatre
By Randy J. Klodz
Boston’s own Dropkick Murphys infuses Celtic elements such as bagpipes
into the band’s high energy punk rock. Now on tour in support of the band’s
latest album “The Warrior’s Code,” a tour that will bring
them to Chicago’s Riviera Theatre on Nov. 15, the band is set to once
again expose its brand of rock to fans nationwide.
Dropkick Murphys--which includes Al Barr (vocals), James Lynch (guitar, vocals),
Marc Orrell (guitar, piano, vocals), Ken Casey (bass, vocals), Tim Brennan (accordion,
mandolin, acoustic guitar, vocals) and Scruffy Wallace (bagpipes)--has rocked
the Vans Warped Tour and numerous worldwide headlining tours over the years.
“The Warrior’s Code” a head-nodding album from start to finish,
in just over 40 minutes, hit stores in June, and has drawn critical acclaim
along the way.
Tracks like “The Auld Triangle,” “Captain Kelly’s Kitchen
(Courtin’ in the Kitchen),” “I‘m Shipping Up to Boston,”
“The Walking Dead” and “Wicked Sensitive Crew” offer
fast-paced punk rock that fans worldwide should enjoy.
“The Green Fields of France (No Man’s Land)” stands as the
album’s lone ballad with it’s beautiful piano and light accordion
leading the way, further displaying the Dropkick Murphys’ penchant for
multi-instrumented music.
The album’s bonus track “Tessie” may sound familiar to some
as it features a Boston Red Sox intro and the track can be heard at Fenway Park
following Boston Red Sox victories.
Riviera Theatre is at 4746 N. Racine Ave. in Chicago’s Uptown neighborhood.
Tickets for this all-ages show are listed for $17.50 each with show start time
scheduled for 6 p.m. Bands Big D and The Kid's Table, Righteous Jams and Far
From Finished are also scheduled to perform. For more info on Dropkick Murphys
