Kings of Leon Accept Early Stardom

The members of southern rock band Kings of Leon may have just busted onto
the music scene at a young age, but that won’t keep them from making a Chicago
stop at Double Door on May 14.
Kings of Leon is comprised of four Followill’s—three brothers Caleb,
21 (vocals, guitar); Nathan, 23 (drums) and Jared, 16 (bass); and cousin Matthew,
18 (guitar)—and has tasted early forms of success since signing a record
deal with RCA, nearly a year ago. Kings of Leon released a five-song EP titled
“Holy Roller Novocaine” in February and have made a popular band list titled
“The Next Wave: 10 to Watch,” in “Rolling Stone” magazine.
“It’s a little crazy looking through magazines and looking at yourself,”
said Jared, as he weighed this new form of publicity within major music magazine
against his and his brothers’ childhood in Mt. Juliet, Tenn., “and it’s a
little crazy that everybody knows so much about you.”
Though Jared said that it’s great to be able to tour with his close family, he also said that, like most bands, his band tends to have a few minor scuffles every once in a while. “There’s been fist fights and there’s arguments everyday and it’s cool, not a big deal at all,” he said. “We totally get over it really quick. We don’t hold any grudges at all. We always argue about stupid stuff like girls or drinking the last beer, stupid stuff like that.” The bands that make it furthest are the ones that can overcome minor fights and arguments. The future of Kings of Leon has just begun.
