Rock Star Supernova to Rock Rosemont Theatre

Odds are good that when a set of established veteran rockers converge, something crazy will result. Meet Rock Star Supernova. The band, upon finding singer Lukas Rossi via a contest-style sing-off on CBS TV’s “Rock Star: Supernova” is prepared to thrill the Chicago masses on the band’s first-ever tour in support of the band’s debut, self-titled album. Rock Star Supernova takes over Rosemont Theatre on Feb. 3.

Newly appointed singer Lukas Rossi is joined by fellow Rock Star Supernova bandmates Gilby Clarke (guitar, formerly of Guns N’ Roses), Jason Newsted (bass, formerly of Metallica) and Tommy Lee (formerly of Motley Crue). It should be noted that since the completion of “Rock Star: Supernova” Newsted suffered a shoulder injury and it is anticipated that Johnny Colt, formerly of the Black Crowes, will assume bass duties on tour.

The album, which features 11 rock tracks, is sure to thrill most rock fans. Those looking for head-banging hard rock will be disappointed in this effort--especially with three of the band’s members partaking in hard-rock bands--but fans of grooving alternative rock are sure to be pleased.

Fans of the show, and Rossi’s previous band Rise Electric will recognize “Headspin.” The slow-churning track was song many times by Rossi during the taping of “Rock Star: Supernova” and became a fan favorite. The song offers one of the album’s brightest moments as the song often displays the versatility of each of the band’s talented members.

“It’s All Love” has alternative-rock vocals reminiscent of Raine Maida of the popular Canadian rock band Our Lady Peace.

The album’s heaviest efforts, the distortion-stomping “Leave the Lights On” and the anthem-heavy “Make No Mistake…This is the Take” offer plenty of rock and head-nodding appeal that is sure to thrill fans during live performance.

“Can’t Bring Myself to Light This Fuse” offers the album’s strongest track, a mellow, piano-driven ditty that fully showcases the range of Rossi’s voice and is sure to encourage fans to light the flame of lighters if played live.
