Snow Patrol Prepared to Take Chicago By Storm
By Randy J. Klodz
Ireland-native alternative-rock band Snow Patrol has built a steady following
in the UK, and while the quintet has a growing U.S. fan base, the band is prepared
to become a worldwide phenomenon. Snow Patrol will perform at Chicago’s
Vic Theatre on June 10.
Snow Patrol—which includes Gary Lightbody (vocals, guitar), Nathan Connolly
(guitar), Paul Wilson (bass), Jonny Quinn (drums) and Tom Simpson (keyboards)—is
on tour in support of its new album “Eyes Open” which hit stores
May 9.
The band’s mellow, alternative-rock sound with sing-along melodies could
position Snow Patrol as an act to keep an eye on.
From “Eyes Open,” tracks like “Chasing Cars,” “Hands
Open” and “You’re All I Have” are sure to get active
spins on radio and video outlets.
One of the most light-natured songs on “Eyes Open” is the impressive
“Set the Fire to the Third Bar” which also features the angelic
vocals of star-in-the-making Martha Wainwright. Other songs like “The
Finish Line” and “Shut Your Eyes” shine.
Vic Theatre is at 3145 N. Sheffield Ave. Tickets for this all-ages show are
listed for $25 each with showtime slated for 7:30 p.m. For more on Snow Patrol
