The Strokes to Strike Again with ‘First Impressions of Earth’

New York City’s own garage rockers of The Strokes grooved their way into the hearts of fans worldwide with albums like “Is This It” and “Room on Fire.” The Strokes have since returned to the studio and have spewed “First Impressions of Earth” which is scheduled to hit stores nationwide on Jan. 3, 2006.

The Strokes--which includes Julian Casablancas (vocals), Albert Hammond Jr. (guitar), Nick Valensi (guitar), Nikolai Fraiture (bass) and Fabrizio Moretti (drums)--has developed a worldwide following in support of its popular albums and its rigorous tour schedule.

In 2001, the Strokes created a buzz amongst critics and fans alike with their major label debut “Is This It.” From the album, songs like “Hard to Explain,” “Last Night” and “Someday” filled the airwaves. The faces of the band’s members could also be found on music magazines worldwide.

Upon constant touring and sold-out concerts, the Strokes released “Room on Fire” in 2003. The album was met with much anticipation and fans and critics were not disappointed. Fans grew to enjoy such singles as “The End Has No End,” “Reptilia” and other songs.

On “First Impressions of Earth,” tracks like “Ize of the World,” “Juicebox” and “Vision of Division” may be a bit faster and louder than previous tracks from the Strokes, but offer a maturity longtime fans should grow to appreciate.

“Ask Me Anything,” with its beautiful orchestration is the closest the Strokes come to a ballad, with the beautiful voice of Casablancas setting the tone of the track.

Songs like “Razorblade” and “You Only Live Once” have the familiar ambiance for which the Strokes have become popular with glowing guitar and light melodies.
